TO DO Festival Features is a shortlist of 10 events, exhibitions, and/or window installations selected by a jury. The criteria for selection is entirely up to each juror, while considering caliber of the work or event program, and appeal to a general public and specialist audience. This year’s jurors include Corrie Jackson (RBC Art), Shaun Moore (MADE Design), and Claire Pijoulat (WantedDesign NYC).

MADE Design has been a long-time exhibitor at the Festival, participating since TO DO’s inaugural edition in 2011. The design product retailer has become a valuable resource of modern Canadian design, and its latest exhibition ‘Bright’ presents new work by Vancouver-based duo Annie Tung & Brad Turner.

The products and experiments on view include suspension and table lights, vases, mirrors, and curio shelves. Each object shines with the introduction of light, and all play with light and challenge form while embracing materials and techniques: carved stone, mouth-blown glass, mirror silver, spun copper, colourful cords, and acrylic are just some of their chosen media.

“Light is an experience of immersion,” says Juror Corrie Jackson, Assistant Curator at RBC and juror for TO DO’s Festival Features. “Brad Turner and Annie Tung’s innovative designs elevate our expectation of how this medium can be experienced, and can shape both the environment and ourselves.”

Annie Tung received her BDes.: Material Art & Design from OCADU in Toronto, Canada and MAS in Design for Luxury & Craftsmanship at ECAL in Lausanne, Switzerland. She has exhibited internationally, having delivered designs and concepts to European luxury heritage brands such as Vacheron Constantin, Christofle, De Sede, and Ruinart and received numerous industry awards and grants for her work.

Native to Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Brad Turner received his BFA from the Alberta College of Art and Design, and MFA from Alfred University in New York. Turner has participated in residency programs in Canada and internationally, including at Harbourfront Centre’s Craft & Design Residency Program.
