Description

Creator of the whimsical ceramic kraft paper bag and glove vases, Montreal ceramicist Michel Harvey compares his work to that of a magician. “Nothing in his hand, nothing up his sleeves.”

Raised in Quebec City, he studied design at the University of Quebec and Ceramics at Cegep of Montreal.

His technique, like a magic wand, transforms common, anonymous, everyday objects info art forms that surprise, intrigue and amuse.

His main objective is to create a work of quality which is also pleasant to own, but which is able to do more – his handcrafted porcelain vases can hold water, plants, and flowers.

If he were not an artist, he says he’d be a magician – “probably as good as David Copperfield.”
