Inspired by the democratic innovation and citizen engagement processes developed by MASS LBP, the window graphics evince their inclusive approach to informing democracy. Comprised of a random pattern of dots, the installation represents the 988 participants from 26 reference panels and four citizen lotteries who have come together to address a variety of public issues under MASS LBP‘s guidance since 2007. Participant “dots” are colour coded according to the issue each person has worked on.
A portal view framed and informed by the dot pattern invite passersby to look in and read between the dots as it were, to observe the activity taking place in the MASS LBP work space. In all cases this activity has and continues to focus on bringing together a wide range of Canadians for the public good.
Claire Ironside and Angela Iarocci are members of moimoi design, a Toronto-based collective, and have a diverse and collaborative practice centered on social and environmental issues.
