While January is a natural time for goal setting, the best goals are ones that last the whole year. It’s easy for our New Year running resolutions to be abandoned. Our running can go stale and become a chore. Goal setting helps. Particularly if your goals are about more than just performance. Reva Quam’s “MOVE” reminds us to keep it fresh. However well you think you know your neighbourhood, you’ll be surprised at how much there is still to discover. Even after years of running in High Park we still find the odd trail we’ve never run on before. Remember to enjoy the surroundings. Urban, parkland or open countryside – running is the perfect way to reconnect with the world around us. Run with friends. Running can be a really social activity as we bond though training and racing together. Introducing others to the joys of running is a great New Year objective. How many of us started running through the persistent enthusiasm of a friend? We hope running continues to enhance your life throughout 2015 – happy New Year!
