Description

PULP: Exhibit – Those who missed the annual PULP: art party on January 12, 2019 may still visit the event exhibit. Every year PULP curates dozens of artists who re-create an interior using reclaimed materials art installations, then throws a dance party inside the exhibit. This year PULP is continuing the exhibit throughout TODO with the addition of Home, a project by At Odds Collective.

Home – At Odds Collective proposes an on-site exploration of the meaning of constructing home on an emotional and physical level. Five artists will use the space as an on-site studio to create a village of seven buildings made of upcycled materials.

Audiences will witness the artists as they create and install their work it within the context of PULP: Exhibit. One building will be completed each day over the week. The village will be completed by January 25th. This will provide interactive elements and culminate in a performance held in the installation by Toronto-based post-punk band Martian Crisis Unit on January 26th.

The project will include:
– A residential neighbourhood with three installations (by Gaudite, Malta, & Thorn)
– An entertainment district including a park and a circus (by krivvy & Thorn)
– a municipal infrastructure with a medical unit and library (by Campbell & Thorn)

Martian Crisis Unit will perform in the completed installation with six band members arranged among the buildings. They will represent the second generation of creative and cultural moments when the original creators lose control over the evolution of the dialogue.
