An exhibition on the art of weaving hand-knotted carpets, ‘SLOWMAKING’ by Jan Kath is a journey through the process of the ancient craft. An interactive display with a weaver and loom on site, guests will experience the process of producing a work of art as Jan Kath honour’s the traditional Tibetan rug-making techniques used for centuries.
Through touching and seeing the raw fibres: natural, unprocessed Tibetan highland wools, the finest raw silks and organic nettle, along with a live weaving exhibit and imagery of the various stages of production, visitors will discover and understand the ‘SLOWMAKING’ journey from the beginning of a design concept to completion of a Jan Kath rug.
The process, the materials, the tools, the craft, the people.
