Description

This exhibition of work was created through a collaboration between SKETCH Working Arts, Codesign, and students and faculty in OCAD University’s Participatory Design course. SKETCH is a community enterprise based in Toronto that engages young people living on the margins to experience the transformative power of the arts. Developing design thinking and fabrication skills were at the core of this project as SKETCH develops a model for a new wood based social enterprise at its location in Artscape Youngplace. OCADU students developed companion products, branding and packaging and a design for a mobile sales kiosk. Sketch artists and the students worked together closely, exchanging ideas and supporting each other as the work was developed. Andrew Reesor Studio and the One Of A Kind Show provided their expertise and Reclaimed Forest products provided wood, making this a true strategic collaboration between many partners. This project was funded by the Ontario Arts Council.
