For this window installation, Laura Carwardine created colourful embroidered ovals which were digitally fabricated and then hand stitched with rope using needlepoint techniques. These ovals are a physical exploration of Laura’s interests in both colour palettes and magnified embroidery.
Laura Carwardine is an industrial designer and textile artist who has worked in industrial design, interior design, and retail design. In her independent textile practice, Laura focuses on using embroidery techniques in playful ways and at a magnified scale to make the details more visible. The tactility, colours, patterns, and textures make embroidery a rich resource to draw from and a very satisfying medium to work with. Laura also runs the Instagram account @thiscolourpalette which documents colour palettes found in everyday life through organic, hand-drawn dot shapes.
