‘Forget-me-not’ looks into the adaptive reuse of items from sailboats once they are past their serviceable life. Previously these items were scrapped, melted down or thrown away in a landfill.

‘Forget-me-not’ explores a different narrative, one where the materials are adapted and transformed for a second life. From sails, masts, rigging, all the way down to the propellers, artists Joshua Abush (Joshua Four | J4LAB) and Anela Dusjic (Dayshaped) bring beauty from waste as they transform these discarded sailboat parts into functional everyday items including lighting, bags, architectural hardware and home decor.

Ready for their next life, ‘Forget-me-not’ reminds the viewer of the stories of these seafaring vessels through the unique patination and textures in these pieces.

Featuring marine bronze, aluminum, sailcloth and stainless rigging, the viewers are encouraged to come inside the venue to touch and experience the textures of these unique pieces.
