‘To Hold’ asks artists and designers to explore the role of presentation in showcasing a personally meaningful object, underscoring a connection between design and personal narrative.
The methods we use to display an object are secondary to the object itself and often meant to be concealed: A utilitarian stamped metal shelf bracket imparts something very different to the objects it supports than a baroque picture frame does to the image it secures. For this exhibition, we ask you to celebrate and reinvent this transformative aspect of showcasing artifacts.
The curated works will be exhibited in the gallery space at Yabu Pushelberg’s Toronto Studio, with the support of The Creative School at Toronto Metropolitan University’s Design + Technology Lab.
