The Local Gallery presents ‘THE SHAPES OF LIFE’, a geometric art show featuring 15 local artists.
You can’t put a square peg into a round hole. It’s one of the first things we learn as children—how to distinguish a square from a circle from a triangle. We learn to see before we learn to read. And the first things we see are shapes. Once we learn this way of seeing, we tend to categorize these shapes for the rest of our lives. We determine the shape of things and figure out what fits where. It’s a lesson that sticks with us and we sometimes forget there’s more than one way to see things.
Through geometry, bold colours and dynamic compositions, ‘THE SHAPES OF LIFE’ will bring back some of that childhood curiosity and make us look at geometric art with a renewed sense of fun and adventure.
