Speaker Name: Tom Morin, co-founder, Work Innovation Partners, and author and speaker, Work Feels Good
Name of the Topic/Talk: Reclaiming Meaningful Work
Speaker Website: WorkFeelsGood.com
Topic Description: Economic power is increasingly concentrated into fewer corporations, highly-marketable and specialized skills are becoming the privilege of fewer workers, and the number of underemployed and economically insecure workers is growing. What is the future of meaningful work? Will workers funnelled into fewer, highly-skilled occupations experience their work as meaningful? How will the increasingly-marginalized majority secure meaningful work? Tom shows that thriving in this dystopian future requires us to reclaim our definition of meaningful work from powerful, socializing forces that limit our experience.

Symposium Theme:
Whether we imagine a utopian or dystopian future, whether we envision a future of work where humans and machines co-exist and work together, or one where workers are replaced by machines and algorithms, we know that many features of that future are already here. But in many cases, other aspects are unpredictable. The fourth annual symposium features five thematic sessions on topics like meaningful work, inclusion and diversity, work space, economic systems, and ethics.
