A curated gallery that showcases traditional and contemporary works of African architecture, interiors, furniture and décor through design-based research. Historically, the African continent with the exception of Egypt as well as the Caribbean, has been omitted by post-secondary art history and design curriculums worldwide. The goal of this exhibition is to immerse design students, design professionals and the general public in a cultural learning experience about the African diaspora from pre-colonial to the present and its contributions to design within the built environment, providing an alternative perspective to the Eurocentric ideal of design aesthetic.
