Conflated Views

This project revisits past exhibition projects designed by elsonstudio, creating flattened representations of the original space. The exhibition design convention of conflating elevation and plan is further abstracted, resulting in collaged works that reference the original exhibition while creating a theoretical space that exists on the drawing surface alone. The viewer is given a bird’s eye perspective that the visitor does not have access to — an ability to see all of the works in their spatial configuration in a glance. Rather than circulating through the space, they are able to consume it with an omniscient gaze.

elsonstudio is the design practice of Christine Elson. Trained as an architect, Christine has worked with museums, galleries and other cultural clients for over 10 years, developing engaging exhibitions, installations and activations.
