NoBa – North Baltica Contemporary Art places the work of international contemporary textile & fibre artists into the newly opened Minimal Toronto showroom, where together life & style are harmonized through art & design.

‘Contemporary Textile Art x Contemporary Design’ is an exhibition that explores imagination through manual and digital processes with tactile materials that integrate technology with nature. Textile art blurs boundaries of art, craft and design, combining artistic vision with technical skill and fine material engineering. Visitors are able to experience this innovative artistic practice and envision how these pieces find a home in interior spaces.

During the DesignTO festival, this dynamic exhibition will create a platform on Thursday, January 29th, “TalkShow-room”, where designers, artists and industry leaders will be asked about their work, craft and experience in their professional field, live in the Minimal Toronto showroom. “TalkShow-room” is a format where the visiting audience will step into the live conversation of how contemporary textiles, art and design are creating unique new living concepts.

The curation of art and design pieces will combine textures, sensations and material innovation at its most aesthetic and dynamic level.  We invite you to live the new showroom experience as an opportunity to discover art and design as a way of life.

Designer: Agape Bathrooms - Massicci - cast glass basin - Designed by Marco Zito. Crafted from cast glass and shaped by fire, Massicci reveals the expressive depth of a material pushed to its limits. Designed by Marco Zito, each basin is created by pouring molten glass into a mold, creating a monolithic volume with a subtly faceted surface, a natural result of the cooling process. Available in clear and amber, Massicci absorbs and reflects light in unexpected ways, playing with the environment and the water to create ever-changing reflections. As the designer states: "It's not simply about designing a shape, but about working with the material itself: solid glass absorbs light and interacts with its surroundings in a way that borders on the magical.”

Designer: Miniforms - soft table Bonbon
Bonbon is a soft and striking table. The curved shape of its legs determines the rhythm of how the light passes through it, creating dynamic atmospheres. But it’s the chunkiness that define its aesthetic: a simple and straightforward graphic style ensures recognition in both domestic and public spaces.
