Forms of Identity

In ‘Forms of Identity’, Charlotte Blake has created a series of four fibre based sculptures utilizing weaving and macrame techniques. The minimal palette creates a visual focus on texture, form, and balance and lends to the indistinct inclusion of unconventional materials such as fishline, cable ties and wax.

Created individually over a period of 18 months, the work comes together for the first time in two window areas at Aquavato, one black and one white. The contrast in tone creates a duality of the perception of their sameness while each knot, stitch and drape recalls a moment in the process. Moving to a fibre based practice, Charlotte has documented this transition through this installation.
