‘Macondo’ is a collection of furniture conceived and created by Colombian/Canadian designerPablo Muñoz through his studies in the Industrial Design program at OCAD University.
The name ‘Macondo’ refers to a fictional town described by the writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez in his book One Hundred Years of Solitude. The town, just like the collection, is a magic-realist interpretation of Colombia, Colombian traditions and aesthetics. Every piece draws inspiration on the landscape and reimagines vernacular designs and practices into a modern context. Bright colours, robust materials and clean lines modernizes the Latin American design identity while honouring its rich roots.
