‘In the Family’ is a collection of new work created by a dynamic group of artists. A painter, architect, photographer, and ceramicist come together to explore the creative process through the shared lens of family, home, and heritage.

The idea that our surroundings continually shape our thoughts and feelings—leads us to ask the question: How do we see the world through the creative lens? Is this a learned thought process or are we born experiencing the world differently? We explore how a shared heritage and experiences have shaped who we are as artists. How have we influenced each other?

In this collaboration, we have created a small collection of domestic objects inspired by our Portuguese ancestry. These objects are designed to bring comfort and a sense of well being into the home—influenced by our own home, which was a place that nurtured imagination.

Filomena Nunes has developed a lifelong practice of drawing and painting, recently focusing on figurative expression.
