For DesignTO 2020, Charlotte Blake has created a set of fibre based artworks using primarily discarded, leftover and up cycled materials. Starting off on a loom these materials are intuitively woven using colour (or lack of) as the binding visual element. The pieces are then finished off in an upright position using knots to create sculptural forms. Contrasting delicate and and heavy materials, the work examines ideals of preciousness in fine art and utility in craft.

This project is part of the King East Design District (KEDD). Several receptions, talks, and events will be happening for KEDD Night on Monday, January 20, 6-9pm.
