‘Rumoured Feast’, a fabric wall mural, transforms the staircase of SMEG Toronto flagship into a vertical theatre of color and texture. Fabrics gather into collages and soft forms— architectural forms, vessels, sweets, and other offerings—rising, hovering, and folding like the memory of a celebration that refuses to fade, an eruption of pleasure, abundance, and tactile delight.
They say the artist once glimpsed a feast so vivid she could never quite forget it. No one remembers why or who began it. The venue and the table has vanished, but the colors remain, still laughing on the walls. Is the mural a recollection or an invention? A witness’s memory or a dream retold too many times? ‘Rumoured Feast’ keeps its secret, offering only fragments of a party that may have happened—or may be happening still.
Composed from Flaneur’s dyed-to-order fabrics, preserved in its decade-long archive, and collectible vintage textiles gathered across the world, the mural merges quilting, collage, printmaking, soft sculpture, and resin-hardened cloth. Its traces spill beyond the staircase: visitors may encounter ceramic counterparts—vessels, tokens, and fragments—that seem to have wandered away from the banquet.
