Wind Up Radio makes multimedia work about the things that scare us the most: fire, flood, drought, sentient AI, the breakdown of civilization, aliens, and the future. It’s a good time. Using found footage, public domain video, vintage drum machines and keyboards, we’re interested in visions of the future from the past that invite us to consider what’s next.

‘Server Farms of Miscellanea’ is one chapter of CHOOSE YOUR END, Wind Up Radio’s multimedia exploration that invites us all to decide how we’d like to face imminent global and environmental collapse. With support from Vidéographe, the Centaur Theatre, and the Ontario Arts Council, Wind Up Radio performed a live version of CHOOSE YOUR END in Montreal in January 2024.

‘Server Farms of Miscellanea’ is a sound and video installation and a cautionary tale told from the perspective of server farms. The work includes a mix of content from the live show, some really great screensavers, as well as video and audio clips from ‘Woman at War,’ a 1941 film from Archives New Zealand now in the public domain.

Wind Up Radio has performed in theatres, galleries, dive bars, street fairs, and a once-top-secret Cold War bunker. Our work has also been screened at artist-run centres, public museums, and birthday parties. We’re pleased to share our terrifying view of the future with the DesignTO community and patrons of The Drake Hotel.
