‘Tides of Structure’ is a large woven textile that explores the balance between structure and fluidity. Exhibited at The Drake Hotel, this black-and-white abstract piece features one of Klara VY’s signature patterns, manipulated and distorted to evoke movement. The piece reflects the tension we experience in life: the push to fit within structures and the pull to step outside them without disrupting the delicate balance. As Klara created this work, she reflected on how we navigate societal frameworks, seeking personal freedom both within and beyond them, and how art becomes a space to explore this fluidity.
At the core of Klara’s work is a desire to invite playfulness and curiosity by challenging expectations. This textile, stretched across the wall like ceramic tiles, retains the softness and flexibility of fabric. The distorted pattern echoes the fluidity of paint, though it’s achieved through woven cotton threads.
Viewers are invited to engage with the flow of the design, allowing their eyes to move across over 16 feet of surface, immersing themselves in the interplay of structure and movement.
