‘Undress / Usittik’ is a series of screenprints comprised of deconstructed traditional Inuit tattoos, also known as “kakiniit”. Inuk designer Mark Bennett is breaking down his mixed identity and process of reclamation, and representing it through the intersection of traditional and modernist design. This exploration is meant to subvert hyper-analyzation and self-exoticism through this formalism. Mark uses the act of process to break down his own narratives through research and conversations with family and community.

Comprised of two screenprints, 30” x 44” on Sommerset Velvet Paper.
