Beauchamp Art Gallery presents ‘WaterWorks’, a water themed exhibition.

With 70% of the Earth’s surface covered in it, and the same percentage making up the human brain, water is one of the most important substances on Earth. For DesignTO 2020, the Beauchamp Gallery has curated a collection that harnesses the power, beauty, and energy of this essential element.

Human, animal and plant survival depends on water; it stabilizes the Earth’s temperature, enables transport, cleans and breaks down waste, acts a cushioning shock protector to land mass, assists in reproduction, provides a home to marine life, and aids in the manufacture of hundreds of products essential to modern living.

Water has been represented and stylised in many ways throughout the history of art. From literal depictions, to abstract representations, it is an ever-present element in artworks as well as life on Earth. Works from 20 contemporary artists will explore the theme of water and will be on display for the duration of the DesignTO Festival 2020.

This project is part of the King East Design District (KEDD). Several receptions, talks, and events will be happening for KEDD Night on Monday, January 20, 6-9pm.
