What To Do This Week: October 15-21

Looking for fun things to do in Toronto this week? Searching for what to do in Toronto? What to do this weekend? There are always cool events and exhibitions going on, but sometimes all that choice can be a little overwhelming. That’s why we’ve put together a weekly list of the most interesting art and design events going on in the city. Here’s a list of Toronto events we’re checking out this week.

Unzipped Toronto

If you haven’t seen the Unzipped exhibition in the heart of King Street yet, you can still register for free tickets here. “Unzipped, an exhibition exploring the relationship of patron and architect, housed within the 2016 Serpentine Pavilion designed by Bjarke Ingels Group, sponsored by Westbank.” The complimentary exhibition is open to the public from 10am – 6pm daily at 533 King St.W. Follow their journey online for updates on events, visual stories and more!

The Integration of Art and Architecture

As a follow up to the Unzipped Toronto exhibition, The Integration of Art and Architecture is a keynote event at Roy Thomson Hall featuring: Ian Gillespie, founder of Westbank, architect Bjarke Ingels of BIG, and artist and author Douglas Coupland. On October 17, 2018 from 6-9pm, this conversation will “..explore how the integration of public art and architecture have such great possibilities to make our cities more beautiful and more inspiring.”

ma ma presents In The Air

“ma ma is a roving contemporary art space in Toronto founded by Magdalyn Asimakis and Heather Rigg.” Stop by their space in the Junction for the opening reception of In The Air on Wednesday, October 17 from 6-9pm. The Exhibit will officially be open October 19, 2018 until Novemeber 12, 2018.

Fall 2018 Public Art Tours at The Bentway

The Bentway is hosting a series of Public Art Tours weekly this October! Join Carrie Jackson and Jesse Shappins (Creative Programming leads at Sidewalk Labs) this Thursday, October 18 from 6-7pm. RSVP here for more information.

Toronto International Festival of Authors

Harbourfront Centre hosts the 39th Edition Toronto International Festival of Authors from October 18-28, 2018. In Conversation: Roddy Doyle With Emma Donoghue starts the festival off at the University of Toronto and “…promises to be one of exhilarating and eye-opening entertainment as two of Ireland’s favourite writers take the stage.”
