Using classic folding beach chairs to set the stage, this interactive exhibition by Frances Hahn explores transition and identity. Here, the beach chairs invite you to sit on this side or that side. Although slight differences may appear in the hand painted objects on either side, the differences are in the person sitting in the chair. Meaningful change can be imperceptible. There can be a canyon of difference between our inner experience and outer appearance. If our culture values before and afters, makeovers and renovations, how do we honour that changes we can’t see, the process or the bothness?
